New Show!!

Okay, by now it is a kind of old show, but new to me=new show.

Have you heard about this show “All on the Line?”

I found the best write-ups from here.

Looks like I’m going to have to make dinner for a friend with cable tv so I can watch–or else I can buy episodes for $2.99 on iTunes. Have you watched? What do you think?

Wow, what a week. So far, I’ve…

  • Made a large pot of coffee but forgot to put the grounds in the filter and instead put them directly in the coffee maker.
  • Forgot about the hole in my pocket and had my cell phone fall through my pants and bash my big toe. [I went back and forth between "whole" and "hole" way too many times.]
  • Been a tad bit late to work just about every day.
  • Gained a 1.2 pounds, while attempting to eat well.
  • Laughed a ton.

I don’t do well with the time change. However, it is nice to see these situations as things that I can laugh about. I haven’t always been this way. Maybe I’m losing some of my “seriousness” after all. It’s only taken 29 and a half years to get here.

This isn’t an original idea, but one worth sharing none-the-less.

Step One: Lay out T-Shirt on a cutting mat and cut strips with a rotary cutter. My T-shirt had no side seams, so I didn’t have to tie the stripes in a loop–if you have side seams, you’d need to do this.

Step Two: Remove strips one by one and stretch out so they roll up.

Step Three: Tie strips into bundles as large or small as you desire with a smaller strip. If you had to the tie them in loops to begin with you can wrap the small strip over the knot to hide it.

Step Four: Wear with pride.

This is actually quite a cute alternative to the ever popular scarf trend. At least I still wear scarves like they aren’t going out of style. I never claimed to be a trendsetter, though.

Peace,

^-^

Valentines

I love hand making Valentines when I have plenty of time to do them. Hence, I’ve already started working on my 2011 version. First I looked for inspiration. Actually, inspiration came and found me, funny how that works.

Next, play around with some ideas. I did do this–but without taking pictures. Then make Valentine and repeat.

Lastly, add candy so people really appreciate them.

Peace,

Fairy Tales

A long time ago,  a beautiful princess was given this Decades of Style pant pattern for her birthday. The princess dutifully traced the pattern, cut the toile (fitting garment), then left the project to rot in The Pit of Unfinished and Forgotten Projects. She went about her life very happily and frolicked to and fro.

One day several months later the princess was offered her choice of some very delicious and very free fabrics. The princess hawed and hemmed trying to decide. She realized her birthday was quickly approaching–how rude to have received a very spectacular pant pattern gift last year and not have finished the pants. The princess set her eyes on the goal–finish those pants before another candle was added to her cake. This goal helped her select a generous portion of linen material perfect for the pants.

The toile and pattern were retrieved from The Pit of Unfinished and Forgotten Projects and she worked diligently on them. Amazingly very few and minor changes were needed after fitting the toile and the work began swiftly on the final pants. Alas much celebrating occurred in the land of the princess when the pants were finished. The deadline was just barely missed, but the pants were exhibited at a gathering of royalty from the area.

The princess had much fun and continues to go about her life very happily and frolic to and fro. A few short weeks later, the princess got word from a fellow princess in a faraway land. A royal request was heralded.

To Be Continued…

New Language

I’m a fan of morning pages. Well, I love the results of doing them, but sometimes, oftentimes, they are hard. I don’t have enough time, I don’t want to get up early, excuse, etc. Because of journaling, I am adding a bunch of journaling only words to my vocabulary. These are deep.

Yikes
Yoswzas
Indeed, not to be confused with indeed-y, or indeed-a-roni
Yum
Hrmmy, Hrm, Hrm
WhaHoo
What the what

My goal this week is pretty simple.

Peace,

^-^

We’ve been in California two and a half years and it is starting to show. I’ve been enjoying lots of beverages that look like this lately.

I’ll admit they are a bit odd looking. This one is full of pear, spinach, and carrot. Another version included tomato, celery, carrot, and spinah. I’ve also tried clementines, carrots, and spinach. I must say they are growing on me. I’m not really dieting per se, just trying out different things.

Last week I attempted mac and cheese with nutritional yeast and spaghetti squash. I liked it okay, but it made Eric nauseous. Poor guy. What have you been cooking lately?

Peace,

Gifts

A friend is celebrating her anniversary soon. Her wedding was on 01.22.10 largely because it is a palindrome. I had a moment of inspiration followed by enough time to follow through. Here’s the result.

Complete with a custom tag. The Front.

The Back.

And the matchy-matchy wrapping.

Peace,

Happy

We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have, ~ Frederick Keonig

Quote copied from a post by Gussy Sews.

I’m grateful for:

  • A husband who offers to make me pancakes and coffee before he heads off to shoot zombies with his buddy all day.
  • My parents’ safety in the crazy flooding in Brisbane.
  • A new midday yoga class at our gym.
  • A last minute ski trip with a friend.
  • Cocoa mixed with decaf coffee and ice after yoga at the gym.
  • Gorgeous weather.
  • Calling my parents’ old phone number and being able to talk to them half-way around the world.
  • A letter in the mail from a friend, right after hearing some frustrating news.
  • A husband who can and is willing to fix my serger, even though he has no idea what it is used for.
  • An entire day spent chatting with a friend.
  • Finding a project half-finished that is perfect for finishing right now.
  • Cute gifts for little ones.
  • Gorgeous sun-shiny days.
  • And photos like this

What are you grateful for?

Peace,

^-^
