He’s been sick for 102 days. Fortunately, or not, it seems to be unrelated to his leukemia. His first illness started to clear up after the new year. Then, without a day of break, he immediately got sick with an entirely new, entirely unrelated illness. Today while we were out running an errand I asked him, “Can you just tell me something I can do to help. I am tired of feeling so helpless.”

He calmly responds, “Just drive me home. That’s how you can help.”

Immediately my brain said, “No, no, no. That’s not what I had in mind…” Then I realized, I wanted to help in “my way.” Instead, I drove him home.

It definitely made me think.

It was a tough one. The swim had a lot of current (in the San Rafael Bay). The water was cold–the day before the water temperature was 52*. The bike was hilly and technical. The roads were wet and had a bit of debris from the downpour the night before. My legs were numb until mile 2 of the run. But I finished–and finished strong! Woo Hoo. And I had a blast cheering on my teammates throughout the race. Fun times.

What’s next you ask? The Holiday Booty Buster Challenge. The plan is to lose and not gain for the holidays this year. Interested in joining me?

My birthday is almost here. I am so excited. I am a little surprised at how my life looks at almost 30. There are some things I imagined would be different. I am incredibly content and happy with where I am at. I love my hubby. I have two awesome kitty children. I adore where we live. I am surrounded by fabulous friends and co-workers. I am content with the wisdom I’ve gained. Something I couldn’t have understood 10 years ago, but that I keep close to my heart like a precious jewel. Wisdom is a gift, indeed. I kept my 30 before 30 list, but the importance of checking off those things has waned for me.

We had fun sharing Mother’s and Father’s Day gifts. My dad loved his–and let me tell you–he is impossible to shop for!

And for my mom I made a bag for her to take to her knitting group–without taking a photo. I also made her a fascinator so she can have a something to wear to the horse races. She requested black and white. I put it on a headband and it is super cute. She’s going to try it out a wedding this weekend, so we’ll see.

Well I’ve added another one. I finished Bay to Breakers a 12 km or 7.45 mi “race.” I ran/walked/gawked. It was silly and fun and bizarre. I pretty much went the entire race with a camera and my wand in my hands, skipping and giggling along. I could go without the public nudity (how is that legal?) Fun times indeed.

I’ve always thought how fun is that? I’m sure my cats would be okay with having little kittens around.

I was right, it is fun.

I was also wrong. Sake moved to the garage for a few days when the kittens arrived. She was pissed. Then she realized they were limited to the perimeters of their pop-up tent and she came back into the house. Silly cat.

Kitten are messy, loud, and needy. But I still love them. Even when they throw up and start acting weird and you realize you have to call in the big guns and take them to a professional–which causes lots of worry, and also requires a shot, and a new, more complicated food routine. I guess it requires a massive run-on sentence too!

And don’t they have the coolest digs ever? Yep, we’re knee-deep in kittens over here, and loving every minute of it. We’ve found a new home and after they hit the magic two-pound mark, get fixed, and recover off they’ll go.
