Today I wore a shirt I made  a while back paired with a cardigan. Sorry for the silly shot–the mirror wasn’t working because of the lighting.

It has been fun so far.

I’m feeling better about the MBA school thing. I got my nails done yesterday and spent some quality time cleaning our place–weird how cleaning makes me feel better.

I’ve also been surviving on hot tea because of the summer cold/sinus/stuffy nose mess I’m battling right now–hence the really red face in the photo above. No fun.

I have no clue what it is with those pillows, but when they are on the bed the cats are snuggling on them. I’m going to plead the 5th on how often they are on the bed–besides it is really Eric’s fault because he is always in bed when I leave in the morning. One time I even saw them snuggling on the pillows when they were strewn across the floor!

So there you have it. We’ve categorized what trumps what with Scotch–clearly we have no life.

bed pillows > space heater > his blanket > a lap on a cold day

So there you have it. Not the cure to cancer, but instead the key to Scotch’s crazy head.

Yesterday we were treated to the VIP tent at the Amgen Tour of California Stage 2 finish in Santa Cruz. It was so fun, and more info and photos will come!

This is how my boys work most of the time. I could not get the photo without Scotch looking like he had some robot-eyes, but you get the idea.

**Aside–so I never know if I should caption a photo below it or above it. Any suggestions?** Here are the items out of the shipping box. The solid blue fabric pillows are square-shaped so I had to run to Ikea to get innards for them. I’ve never put square, or European, pillows on my bed before. How fancy!

When I got back from the store, Eric had put all the pieces on the bed, including the bedskirt. How sweet! I stuffed the pillows and set up our own little pillow show. I don’t care. I love it. Here’s sake inspecting the bedding packaging. Yes, she got out quickly and I put it away.

Lovely, eh? I’m pleased as punch, myself. I loved my job at Soft Surroundings, and realized I had to wait 3 years for it. So, here’s to finding another awesome job–and the waiting that may be involved.

Updated: The cupcakes and atmosphere were not even comparable to Jilly’s in St. Louis. But a mediocre cupcake is still a cupcake and reason to celebrate! Plus, I don’t have to worry about wanting to go back!

Friday was amazingly lazy. It was superb.

Saturday was a conference, then Light the Night. Or Night the Light if you ask Eric’s aunt. It is a very fun fundraiser. Eric is always so excited he gets to carry a white balloon–because he is a survivor. It is one of the few perks. Sadly half-way through the walk, his balloon flew away. We walked two-miles around downtown Palo Alto. It was neat to see a new area, for me. I was caught off-guard as we walked right past the Facebook headquarters. It feels odd that it happens in a normal-looking office building. Not sure why though.

So since this was sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, they also had information about Team in Training. I’m awfully nervous about this–but I’m pretty sure I’m going to sign up for the next event. The Tour de Palm Springs–a century ride. This be my fourth Team in Training event, and the final leg of my Triple Crown–a marathon, a triathlon, and a century ride. I’m hoping to get Eric to join too. Right now the LLS is short on donations because of the troubling economy. Each company that files bankruptcy, or dissolves is also not making corporate donations. Without those donations, new drugs cannot be developed as easily. Team and Training developed the drug that saves Eric daily–Gleevec.

Enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon. I highly recommend Eric and my favorite Sunday evening show–America’s Funniest Videos. The season premiere is tonight.

I know it seems awfully suspicious, but I had to write 3 posts today.

I HAD to.

I just happened to be poking around in my stats yesterday and realized that today is my year-blogging anniversary. And then I just happened to notice that I’d written 97 posts. So there you have it, now I’m at a hundred.

To celebrate I wanted to do something fun–and have a Give-Away.

I know I am very original.

So here you have it. I bought some supplies from Little Windows when I was at the Long Beach Quilt Show in July. It was an anniversary gift for Eric who is obsessed with photography. Did I mention that we have a photo studio in our back room? I’m serious. He has purchased umbrella lights and everything.

So here’s the during.

I used a scrapbooking letter for the “K”, and part of photos Eric took. I did not use the cropping software…

Here is the mixture half-gelled. It was fun to play with at this point.

This afternoon when I got home from work I popped them out of the molds. And here you have it.

The craziest part–for me–was drilling a hole through Eric’s forehead–to clarify, the photo of his forehead–so I could create a jump ring to attach it to the necklace. It was a bit crazy. I probably won’t ever wear the necklace, but it makes for a nice photo. Silver reacts with my skin leaving me with a rash and the silver turned permanently black.

Yesterday, I sat down at my desk at the back of the classroom expecting a typical Monday morning. Instead, someone came and abducted the teacher for a “meeting.” Which left the teacher giving me instructions on what to do as she exited the classroom. I was in control of 21 third graders for over an hour. Okay, that is an exaggeration. They were in control of me most some of the time too. I don’t think a third of the class all of a sudden need to use the restroom at the same time. They were pretty convincing little actors–doing the pee pee dance and everything.

But, I think I’ve recovered.

Today, I happily sat at my desk in the back of the room grading papers, hanging work up, making copies, creating a door decoration for fall, and sipping a Pumpkin Spiced Latte–my teacher knew I needed an extra special treat after what happened yesterday.

Actually, I think the “fear” of teaching was worse than teaching. In fact sometimes it was downright fun. But I was terrified to try it on my own. Makes me grateful for my stubborn personality that I “Just Did It.” Maybe next time I can be in charge of a lesson and know about it in advance.
