Redonk

First, let me preface by saying I think I first learned the “word” redonk on Cute Overload.

So when Eric and I got home from our usual Wednesday afternoon swim, and we saw one tiny little ranunculus flower. A simultaneous “Redonk!” popped out of both of our mouths. Followed shortly by, “Redunk Ranunc.” I’ll show you what I mean.

I think what set me over the edge was the teeny tiny flower shadow. Too cute. I look forward to seeing more redunk renuncs in the future. I’ll keep you updated!

Peace!

I was working in the study/sewing room today. Before I had a chance to get to anything, Scotch demanded some attention. I was absentmindedly petting him and daydreaming. The view out the window is pretty cool. A lot of the calla lilies are blooming. See what I mean?

So I continued petting Scotch. Then I noticed this on his neck!! At first I thought I was just seeing things, but no. I went and checked the bouquet on our table. Yep, all of the easter lilies had opened. Though none of the stamens had any pollen. Wonder why? Look at this!!

I had a bit of fun in Photoshop. Silly cat. By this time, Sake decided she wanted some attention. She’s sitting on my lap here.

Look at the mess on my shirt after all this kitty love!

Um, ew!! And you’ll notice that I was wearing a red shirt and khakis. An outfit similar to the uniform that Target employees wear? Of course I ended up at Target in this outfit before I realized it. Silly-ness. But I did manage to snagged a chaise lounge on sale so we can enjoy our back patio some more!!

Maybe now I can get back to sewing some fun stuff! I have several items that I’m wrapping up! I realize that I always talk about sewing, but I do actually do it too! If you are wondering part of why it takes so long, re-read this post. Also, check out Kathleen’s recent Fashion-Incubator article. There are a lot of steps in the process!

Peace!

Spring!!

This weekend Eric’s grandparents came up to visit. They live in Southern California. They were florists, so they came to see a local flower show and Filoli. We had lots of fun hanging out with them, and teasing each other. Spring is definitely really in the air!

Filoli was gorgeous. I didn’t know this was in our “backyard.” It made me think of Versailles in the fact that it is serene and restful. Well that, and the fact that there is pretty impressive home and garden. I was disappointed they don’t allow picnics, as it would be the perfect setting. Especially in the field of wild daffodils.  Here are some of the flowers we saw.

We are the proud owners of two pots of ranunculus-es (?), and an artichoke plant. Our little garden continues to expand.

This afternoon is slated for sewing and creating. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Peace!

Is it Spring?

By the look of our yard, it will soon be Spring!

This is definitely the “little cilantro that could.” The squirrels have dug in this pot so many times burying things, I’m amazed anything has made it. But it has!

This bush lines the back of our porch. It was here, but I don’t remember it having flowers when we moved here in the fall.

I’m not sure what is in the corner of that bed. A weed? Or is it something worth keeping around?

These tulips were our contribution. I had no idea all of the flowers were already in the yard. So it does seem a bit gluttonous, but you can never have any too many flowers right? We kept the squirrels away from the bulbs with some chicken wire.

Here is a calla lily! There are not too many blooming yet, but they all look like they will all be popping soon!

I think these are called bird of paradise. These are on the other side of our house. They seem almost too exotic for a yard, but I love them! I can see them when I drive up the driveway.

I hope Spring is coming in your area too. I think St. Louis is expecting snow today, bummer.

Peace,

Katy ^_^

PS Does anyone else use WordPress? For the life of me, I cannot get the images centered unless the text is centered. What is going on? Half the time the images are mixed up centered and not. I’ve looked at the code and it is coding the image as text, so any suggestions? I removed the text tags and still no luck. Perhaps it is my browser. I’ve tried Camino and Safari without luck.

Swoon

So I was talking with our landlady and she asked if I had seen the calla lilies yet. What?? I mentioned I’d seen green ground cover, but I just thought it was ivy. She tipped me off that if we cut the calla lilies, their juices can stain clothing. I would never have thought of that, but am excited to see them growing. Here a shot of their current status.

100_0520And a close-up.

100_0521See the raindrops? We’ve been enjoying the sprinkles all weekend. Especially since they are already talking about water conservation efforts in Sonoma, not far from here. I hope the rain continues!

Peace,

Katy
