Having Fun

Eric and I like to break out into random wars. Nothing serious–it usually involves throwing soft objects at each other like socks. Last night we ended up doing the same with toilet paper rolls. As I was picking up the rolls strewn about our house this evening, I came across a funny sight.

Here’s Exhibit B.

Looks like the kitties decided to play with the toilet paper too! Fun times indeed.

Peace,

^-^

Changes!!

I got a new hairstyle. I love it!

Half Iron(wo)man!

I did it!! It was pretty stinking awesome. Here we are post-race, post-showered with our temporary Ironman tattoos cut in half. We wanted to be like our coach with his full Ironman tattoo.

Here’s how I found Eric and Scotch today. They were all worn out. Eric was tired from cheering all day, and Scotch is a cat so he is always up for a nap.

Yahoo!! Now I’ll have a lot more time to sew and be creative!

Peace,

^-^ Katy

There was a bit of leftover pegboard after my tools’ board was made as seen here.

Not one to waste or enjoy extra things lying around, I found the perfect use for it. More tools! This one is held to a storage bookshelf in our garage with bungee cords. Now a hammer or screwdriver is always within reach. Well, as long as it is put away in the first place.

Originally all of the tools fit in a plastic case that never shut correctly and was super finicky about placement. This solution is so much better.

Birthday Crafting

Eric had a birthday recently. He is very difficult to buy for because to quote him, he’s “happy with a cardboard box.” He really is too. Anything he really wants is a bit out of our budget range–a new camera, new bike things etc. So I went with the from the heart approach.

I found these fabulous Post-It pages meant for a Cricut machine. I don’t have a machine, but I do have scissors. I love how easy they were to reposition–especially because it meant I didn’t have to plan out the wording in the beginning. I chose to use text we had selected for our wedding Habakkuk 3:17-18. And I put it in a frame–not the one I had originally purchased, though. Frame sizes are 8″ x 10″. Scrapbook paper page size is 8.5″ x 11″. Opps! Glad I found one that worked with the size!

It was very well received. Now we just have to figure out where to display it–wall or table, home or office, living room or study.

Peace,

Katy ^_^

Collections

I am not big on knick knacks. Probably because I loath dusting. So my favorite travel souvenir is the smashed penny. I have had a growing pile of them and been unsure of how to display them.

I’d been looking for a frame for a long time, but I never knew how I’d mount them. Then I came across this fabulous frame with a velcro background and velcro strips.

Here they are displayed.

I love that I can rearrange them as my collection grows. I wish the frame was white and the velcro too, but alas, it works. Though on the wall it looks a lot like a civil war era collection.

Peace,

Katy ^_^

Link Love

Ah, Labor Day weekend. It is especially restful for us as we don’t usually make it out of town on the weekend–Eric’s job requires him to stick around. I prefer it though, because it always us to be REALLY lazy and rest up for the next few things coming in our schedules.

This is a random photo from the summer.

One of my favorite pastimes or procrastination devices is checking out the internet. Here are some fun things I’ve found.

Some non-Internet weekend favorites were:

  • Final group training for the triathlon. It was an “easy” workout which only took 3 hours. Sick, I know!
  • Going to a high school football game.
  • Dinner with new friends and talking like they were old friends.
  • Being asked if Eric and I would be godparents.
  • Making and enjoying a pot of coffee in the morning.

Hope you enjoyed your extra day too!

Peace,

Katy ^_^

This is Eric and me from last September before our first race together, Pacific Grove Triathlon. Now here I am less than a week before a solo half-Ironman race–Eric’s summer brought a few unexpected health issues that made training difficult. Yikes 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run (or walk)!

I’m excited about the support I’ve received this year. My ambitious fundraising goal for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society was $5,000 in honor of 5 years since Eric’s diagnosis. I’m just over $3,000. Which is over one and a half times my minimum fundraising amount. The donations and supportive notes, hugs, and smiles have been awesome!

I’m excited about how strong my body has grown. I’ve been relatively injury free–Thank God! I did have a bit of a bike crash and resulting road rash in July at a fun training event. I’ve lost a few toenails and expect a few more to fall off–gross, I know. I’m excited about the race–and am more and more aware of the “mental game” that starts at this point in the season when trainings taper, and nerves rise.

Here’s to being an half-Ironwoman triathlete!

If you are interested in donating, here’s a link.

Peace,

Katy ^_^
